Aberlleiniog Castle is a large and impressive ditched motte, which houses a 17th century fort on the summit. It is open to the public, and the summit accessed via timber platforms and stairs. It was probably founded in the late 11th century and abandoned after the initial Norman conquest of Gwynedd. There have been suggestions of a bailey to the south, but this is inconclusive.
