Domen Fawr Tafolwern is a well-preserved motte erected on a spit of land between a river confluence, and isolating the narrow point which may have served as a bailey. It is clearly visible from the public road, and a gate in the fence suggests that public access to the motte is possible, although the possible bailey is occupied by a modern house and garden. It was probably built in the 12th century to serve as a llys, and disappears from the records in 1244.
